ESCANABA -- The city of Escanaba is closing a section of 3rd Avenue North in anticipation of a large crowd attending this weekend's Northern Lights Music Festival at the U.P.State Fairgrounds.
On Friday, July 21 and Saturday, July 22 the 2900 block of 3rd Avenue North will be closed between 4 p.m and midnight. No through traffic will be allowed during these times because of the anticipated large traffic volume.
All concert goers are encouraged to use North 30th Street accessing from Ludington Street or Danforth Road to reach the concert site at the fairgrounds.
All 3rd Avenue North business entrances will be open and accessible. The road will be blocked just after Peninsula Federal Credit Union's entrance on 3rd Avenue North.
On both days, parking for the music festival opens at noon at the fairgrounds and costs $10 per vehicle. The fee may be paid in cash upon arrival or online ahead of time. Vehicles must be cleared from the parking lot by 9 a.m. the following morning.
