Police probe fatal Marinette shooting

MARINETTE, Wis. — A 31-year-old man is in custody after a woman was fatally shot Thursday afternoon in Marinette.

Marinette police were sent about 4:05 p.m. to Trolley Station Apartments at 1529 Main St., where they found a 32-year-old female with a gunshot wound. She later died at Aurora Medical Center-Bay Area, the Marinette Police Department stated in a news release.

Officers were told the 31-year-old male had fled before they arrived. They found the man about 4:25 p.m. at a Marinette residence and took him into custody without incident, according to the news release.

He was treated for minor injuries at Aurora Medical Center and then taken to Marinette County Jail.

Marinette Police have requested assistance from the Wisconsin Crime Lab. The Marinette County District Attorney’s Office is reviewing the matter for potential charges.

No names have been released. More details will be available as the investigation proceeds, according to police.
