ESCANABA — There will be no shortage of holiday events this weekend in Escanaba. The annual Escanaba Christmas Parade is Friday, along with Christmas in the Village at the U.P. State Fairgrounds Friday and Saturday.
ESCANABA CHRISTMAS PARADE
The Escanaba Christmas Parade will light up Ludington Street with holiday cheer Friday.
The parade starts at 7 p.m., with line up for the more than 35 participating groups and businesses at 5 p.m.
This year’s parade princess is Marjorie Strand, who will be joined in a convertible near the beginning of the parade with two princes, Sawyer Kazmer and Jadyn Kuecker. The young royals were selected from more than 50 children by random drawing.
CHRISTMAS IN THE VILLAGE
The U.P. Steam and Gas Engine Association will once again bring Yuletide fun for the entire family to the Antique Village at the U.P. State Fairgrounds with the annual Christmas in The Village event, taking place this Friday and Saturday. The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on both days.
Guests of the event will be able to visit with Father Christmas, peruse arts and crafts from local vendors and artisans, enjoy carols in the Community Chapel, warm up by a bonfire in the Village Square and get complimentary roasted chestnuts in the Agricultural Museum. There will also be wagon rides, photo ops, a cookie sale, popcorn, hot chocolate, a quilt raffle, can raffles and other goodies.
The event is free, though guests are asked to bring a nonperishable food donation, which will be given to a local food pantry.
