Local trick-or treating, Halloween events set
Ilsa Minor | Daily Press From demonic candy corn to the reanimated dead, 1503 Wisconsin Ave. in Gladstone is home to a spooky spectacle. Decked out with full-animatronic decorations, the home has become an icon in the city, with some visiting the home every October to see what new frightful sights are in store.
Halloween events and trick-or-treating will be taking place throughout the weekend and Monday, Oct. 31 — Halloween. Here are some of the activities planned in the local area.
GLADSTONE
On Friday, Oct. 28, the Cameron Elementary Spectacular Halloween Carnival will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Cameron Elementary Gymnasium. Admission is one canned food donation per family.
On Saturday, Oct. 29 there will be a Trunk or Treat from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Gladstone Ski Hill. For more information call or text (906) 399-9390.
On Monday, Oct. 31 community-wide trick-or-treating will take place from 5 to 7 p.m.
ESCANABA
On Saturday, Oct. 29 the Northern Lights YMCA is hosting a Fall Family Festival from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will Trunk or Treats at Christian Park Village from 2 to 3 p.m., Christian Park Center from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. and Bishop Noa Home from 3 to 4 p.m.
On Monday, Oct. 31 there will be community trick-or-treating from 5 to 7 p.m.
There will be a Halloween Celebration at the Catherine Bonifas Civic Center on Monday, Oct. 31 from 4 to 6 p.m. Hot dogs, drinks and snacks will be served.
ROCK/PERKINS
On Monday, Oct. 31 there will be community trick-or-treating from 4:30 to 6 p.m.
BARK RIVER-HARRIS
On Sunday, Oct. 30 there will be trick-or-treating from 3 to 5 p.m. with the Bark River-Harris School Halloween Carnival to follow from 5 to 7 p.m.
MANISTIQUE
On Monday, Oct. 31 there will be community trick-or-treating from 5 to 7 p.m.
On Saturday, Oct. 29 there will be a spooky night at the only drive-in movie theater in the Upper Peninsula with the seventh annual Fright Night at the Drive-in. The 2019 animated kid-friendly movie “Adams Family” will be shown, followed by the 1999 classic, “The Blair Witch Project” and “Legacy of Blood.” There will be intermissions between movies. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. with time to set up for the crowd-favorite Trunk-or-Treat. There will be prizes for the best-decorated trunks, as well as the best Halloween costumes. Admission to Fright Night is free courtesy of event sponsor Grover Real Estate. The Highway 2 Community Drive-In Theater is located east of Manistique on US 2 across from the Schoolcraft County Airport.
POWERS – SPALDING
HERMANSVILLE
On Sunday, Oct. 30 the North Central Area Elementary School Halloween Carnival will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. with community trick-or-treating to follow from 4 to 6 p.m.
CARNEY NADEAU
On Monday, Oct. 31 community trick-or-treating will be held from 4 to 6 p.m
RAPID RIVER
On Saturday, Oct. 29 community trick-or-treating will take place from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. with the school carnival to follow from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. A Haunted Trail will following the carnival from 8 to 9 p.m. for the younger crowd. The extra scary experience begins at 9 p.m. at the Rapid River School.
