ESCANABA -- The Escanaba Public Safety Department is continuing to investigate a bomb threat at the Escanaba High School Wednesday.
At 9:49 a.m. Delta County Central Dispatch received a call from from a person claiming a bomb may have been planted at the Escanaba High School. Escanaba Public Safety responded and worked with school officials. It was decided the Escanaba area schools would be put on a soft lock down. Escanaba Public Safety requested bomb dogs from the Michigan State Police and Delta Force Security to search the Escanaba area schools for potential bombs. Escanaba Public Safety also requested the Michigan State Police Bomb Squad be advised of the situation. Officers were placed in all of the Escanaba schools for the duration of the day.
The schools were searched by the bomb dogs and officers and nothing suspicious was located. There were no suspicious individuals located after reviewing hours of video surveillance.
Escanaba Public Safety is still investigating the source of the threat. Detectives worked with Delta County Central Dispatch, ATF, Michigan State Police and the FBI attempting to locate the suspect. The incident is still under investigation at this time.
