ESCANABA TOWNSHIP — An error in Escanaba Township resulted in absentee voters being sent incorrect ballot instructions.

According to a letter sent to absentee voters by Township Clerk Theresa Chenier, the voting instructions for the primary election were included with the ballots for the Nov. 8 general election.

In primaries, Michigan voters may only select candidates from a single party, either Democrat or Republican. In the general election, voters may select candidates from any party as well as those with no party affiliation.

It is the winners of the general election that are elected to office.

The correct voting instructions accompanied the letter. Those with questions were directed to contact Chenier at 906-789-1887.
