One death, 25 COVID cases reported

ESCANABA — Local data showed a new death blamed on COVID-19 in Delta County, along with 25 new confirmed coronavirus cases since Aug. 30.
Menominee County recorded 26 confirmed positives in the same eight-day span, according to figures posted on the Public Health of Delta and Menominee Counties website Wednesday. Delta County also had 44 probable cases and Menominee County 19 probables in that time period.
The PHDM website Wednesday had Delta County at 8,562 confirmed positives, 2,699 probable cases and 164 deaths since the pandemic began. Menominee County has had 4,404 confirmed positives, 1,981 probables and 68 deaths. The deaths included confirmed and probable.
On the state level, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services coronavirus website Tuesday added 280 confirmed positives since Aug. 30 to the Upper Peninsula’s tally: 46 in Iron and Marquette counties, 37 in Dickinson County, 30 in Houghton County, 24 in Chippewa County, 21 in Menominee County, 20 in Delta County, 13 in Gogebic County, 12 in Mackinac County, 10 in Schoolcraft County, eight in Ontonagon and Luce counties, three in Alger County and two in Keweenaw County.
Delta County had the only new virus-related death for the week reported in the Upper Peninsula.
Using only the MDHHS figures, the Upper Peninsula as of Tuesday has had 58,756 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 893 deaths.
Across the U.P., the MDHHS data site Tuesday had Keweenaw County at 551 confirmed cases and 61 probable, and 12 confirmed deaths and one probable death; Luce County, 744 confirmed cases and 860 probable, 14 confirmed deaths and two probable deaths; Ontonagon County, 1,071 confirmed, 123 probable and 38 deaths, three probable; Alger County, 1,188 confirmed, 781 probable and eight deaths, seven probable; Schoolcraft County, 1,225 confirmed cases and 782 probable, 14 deaths and three probable; Mackinac County, 1,847 confirmed cases and 947 probable, 29 deaths and four probable; Baraga County, 1,943 confirmed cases, 397 probable and 55 deaths, two probable; Iron County, 2,841 confirmed cases and 376 probable, 71 deaths and 17 probable; Gogebic County, 3,224 confirmed cases and 594 probable, 42 deaths and 31 probable; Chippewa County, 3,914 confirmed cases and 5,654 probable, and 91 deaths, 17 probable; Menominee County, 4,389 confirmed cases, 1,968 probable and 62 deaths, 12 probable; Dickinson County, 5,646 confirmed cases and 2,786 probable, 93 deaths and 23 probable; Houghton County, 7,722 confirmed cases, 1,201 probable, 91 deaths and 12 probable; Delta County, 8,546 confirmed cases and 2,684 probable, 138 deaths and 27 probable; and Marquette County, 13,905 confirmed cases, 3,717 probable and 135 deaths, 14 probable. State figures can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.
The MDHHS on Tuesday had 15,854 new confirmed and probable coronavirus positives in Michigan since Aug. 30, or an average of about 2,265 cases per day for the week, for a total of 2,786,213 cases since COVID tracking began. The state for that time period added 83 confirmed and probable deaths attributed to the virus to reach 38,121.
