Fifth Grade Fridays is a program aimed to support the mind-set that college or other post-high-school training is for everyone and is attainable. The program brings students from all of the schools across the Delta-Schoolcraft Intermediate School District to Bay College to learn about career options and the training needed to succeed in those fields. On Friday, roughly 160 fifth-graders from the Escanaba Upper Elementary participated in the program, which included a visit to the YMCA, a campus tour, and interactive seminars in areas like biology and business. Above, students see how difficult it is to compress the chest of a child during a CPR activity in the EMT and paramedic program wing.
