Student creates new road commission logo

Courtesy photo The Menominee County Road Commission recently adopted a new logo. Bark River High School sophomore Alison Kleiman created the logo, which was selected in a contest earlier this year. The Bark River-Harris art department received a $500 grant from the commission for winning the contest. MENOMINEE — The Menominee County Road Commission has a new logo — thanks to the efforts of local high school students.

The Menominee County Road Commission was searching for a new logo and ran a logo design contest this spring. The contest challenged area students to come up with the winning design. Over 100 designs were submitted by students at Menominee, Stephenson and Bark River-Harris high schools.

Bark River-Harris’s Photography/G.D. Class taught by Terra Stenberg decided to participate by teaching a lesson on logo design.

“I try to incorporate as many real world design challenges in my classes as possible. This was a great opportunity for students to learn about logo design and how impactful art is,” Stenberg said.

A design submitted by Bark River-Harris sophomore Alison Kleiman won the logo contest.

“I have quite a few students who work really hard and who are interested in making art part of their future and Alison is one of them. Congratulations to her for her design being selected,” said Stenberg.

The logo was finalized by a professional and placed on all Menominee trucking equipment and apparel.

The Bark River-Harris art department received a $500 grant from the commission for winning the contest. Kleiman received a hoodie with the logo, a prismacolor art pencil set and drawing supplies. All participating students received a Menominee County hat.

Starting at $3.50/week.
