Campers and members of the Escanaba Rotary Club gathered at Camp Harstad for their end of the year picnic Tuesday. 15 campers attended the eight-week summer day camp this year, with five counselors assisting Director Kim Pepin. Campers spent their summer doing a variety of different activities, like swimming in Little Bay de Noc, playing games in a ballfield, and cleaning the Lake Michigan shoreline. When walking the shoreline, campers would collect rocks, shells, driftwood, and any other “lake treasures” that rolled up on shore. Once collected, these items were used for creative projects, which the campers could take home at the end of the day.
