Two COVID-19 deaths, 35 cases in Delta County

ESCANABA — Local data showed Delta County recorded 35 new confirmed COVID-19 positives — along with two more deaths blamed on the virus — and Menominee County 24 cases since July 20.

Delta County also had 32 probable coronavirus positives and Menominee County 17 in the six-day span, according to figures posted on the Public Health of Delta and Menominee Counties website Tuesday.

The PHDM website Tuesday had Delta County at 8,392 confirmed positives, 2,465 probable cases and 163 deaths since the pandemic began. Menominee County has had 4,240 confirmed positives, 1,848 probables and 66 deaths. The deaths included confirmed and probable.

On the state level, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services coronavirus website Tuesday added 475 confirmed positives since July 19 to the Upper Peninsula’s tally: 124 in Marquette County, 75 in Houghton County, 54 in Dickinson County, 42 in Delta County, 32 in Gogebic County, 29 in Menominee County, 26 in Baraga County, 20 in Iron and Chippewa counties, 19 in Schoolcraft County, 11 in Ontonagon County, eight in Keweenaw County, seven in Mackinac County, and four in Alger and Luce counties. The state listed a single new virus-related death in Delta and Marquette counties.

Using only the MDHHS figures, the Upper Peninsula as of Tuesday has had 56,441 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 874 deaths.

Across the U.P., the MDHHS data site Tuesday had Keweenaw County at 528 confirmed cases and 59 probable, and 12 confirmed deaths and one probable death; Luce County, 696 confirmed cases and 843 probable, 14 confirmed deaths and two probable deaths; Ontonagon County, 986 confirmed, 114 probable and 37 deaths, three probable; Alger County, 1,140 confirmed, 737 probable and eight deaths, seven probable; Schoolcraft County, 1,154 confirmed cases and 771 probable, 13 deaths and three probable; Mackinac County, 1,772 confirmed cases and 911 probable, 28 deaths and three probable; Baraga County, 1,885 confirmed cases, 357 probable and 53 deaths, two probable; Iron County, 2,553 confirmed cases and 358 probable, 71 deaths and 17 probable; Gogebic County, 3,108 confirmed cases and 574 probable, 41 deaths and 30 probable; Chippewa County, 3,777 confirmed cases and 5,459 probable, and 89 deaths, 17 probable; Menominee County, 4,233 confirmed cases, 1,837 probable and 61 deaths, 12 probable; Dickinson County, 5,376 confirmed cases and 2,601 probable, 92 deaths and 23 probable; Houghton County, 7,422 confirmed cases, 1,169 probable, 88 deaths and 12 probable; Delta County, 8,379 confirmed cases and 2,453 probable, 137 deaths and 27 probable; and Marquette County, 13,432 confirmed cases, 3,501 probable and 130 deaths, 11 probable. State figures can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

The MDHHS on Tuesday had 19,653 new confirmed and probable coronavirus positives in Michigan since July 19, or an average of about 2,808 cases per day for the week, for a total of 2,672,312 cases since COVID tracking began. The state for that time period added 137 confirmed and probable deaths attributed to the virus to reach 37,428.
