Delta County has 41 new COVID cases

ESCANABA — Local data Wednesday showed Delta County has had 41 new confirmed COVID-19 positives and Menominee County 22 since May 4.

Delta County also had 38 probable cases and Menominee County 18 more probables in the week’s span, according to figures listed on the Public Health of Delta and Menominee Counties website Wednesday. Neither county had a new death blamed on the virus.

The PHDM website Wednesday had Delta County at 7,980 confirmed positives, 2,103 probable cases and 157 deaths since the pandemic began. Menominee County has had 3,993 confirmed positives, 1,720 probables and 64 deaths. The deaths included confirmed and probable.

On the state level, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services coronavirus website Wednesday added 419 confirmed positives to the Upper Peninsula’s tally since May 4: 154 in Marquette County; 49 in Houghton County; 48 in Chippewa County; 36 in Delta County; 33 in Dickinson County; 31 in Mackinac County; 19 in Menominee County; 16 in Gogebic County; 13 in Iron County; seven in Ontonagon County; four in Alger County; three in Keweenaw County; and two in Schoolcraft, Baraga and Luce counties. The state recorded a virus-related death in Dickinson County in the past week, while Iron County’s toll was reduced by one.

Using only the MDHHS figures, the Upper Peninsula as of Wednesday has had 52,383 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 839 deaths.

Across the U.P., the MDHHS data site Wednesday had Keweenaw County at 468 confirmed cases and 55 probable, and 13 confirmed deaths and one probable death; Luce County, 666 confirmed cases and 783 probable, 12 confirmed deaths and one probable death; Ontonagon County, 900 confirmed, 108 probable and 35 deaths, three probable; Alger County, 1,065 confirmed, 664 probable and eight deaths, five probable; Schoolcraft County, 1,085 confirmed cases and 678 probable, 13 deaths and three probable; Mackinac County, 1,623 confirmed cases and 856 probable, 28 deaths and three probable; Baraga County, 1,732 confirmed cases, 319 probable and 51 deaths, two probable; Iron County, 2,337 confirmed cases and 336 probable, 70 deaths and 16 probable; Gogebic County, 2,771 confirmed cases and 525 probable, 40 deaths and 29 probable; Chippewa County, 3,550 confirmed cases and 5,172 probable, and 87 deaths, 17 probable; Menominee County, 3,981 confirmed cases, 1,712 probable and 60 deaths, 10 probable; Dickinson County, 5,065 confirmed cases and 2,425 probable, 88 deaths and 22 probable; Houghton County, 6,867 confirmed cases, 1,115 probable, 81 deaths and 11 probable; Delta County, 7,963 confirmed cases and 2,087 probable, 133 deaths and 24 probable; and Marquette County, 12,310 confirmed cases, 3,114 probable and 120 deaths, 10 probable. State figures can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

The MDHHS on Wednesday had 27,705 new confirmed and probable coronavirus positives in Michigan since May 4, or an average of about 3,958 per day for the week’s span, for a total of 2,472,596 cases since COVID tracking began. The state for the week added 76 confirmed and probable deaths attributed to the virus to reach 36,140.
