ESCANABA -- Menominee County managed in the past week to have no new confirmed COVID-19 positives, while Delta County had eight confirmed cases, according to local and state data Wednesday.
Delta County also had more three probable cases and Menominee County one listed on the Public Health of Delta and Menominee Counties website Wednesday. Neither county had a new death blamed on the virus.
The PHDM website Wednesday had Delta County at 7,916 confirmed positives, 2,037 probable cases and 157 deaths since the pandemic began. Menominee County has had 3,952 confirmed positives, 1,686 probables and 64 deaths. The deaths included confirmed and probable.
On the state level, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services coronavirus website Wednesday added 105 confirmed positives to the Upper Peninsula's tally since April 13: 32 in Marquette County, 24 in Houghton County, 15 in Chippewa County, 10 in Gogebic County, eight in Delta and Ontonagon counties, five in Iron County, three in Mackinac County and one in Schoolcraft County; Baraga County's count was reduced by one. The state recorded two deaths blamed on the virus in Marquette County.
Using only the MDHHS figures, the Upper Peninsula as of Wednesday has had 51,520 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 836 deaths.
Across the U.P., the MDHHS data site Wednesday had Keweenaw County at 456 confirmed cases and 55 probable, and 12 confirmed deaths and one probable death; Luce County, 665 confirmed cases and 758 probable, 12 confirmed deaths and one probable death; Ontonagon County, 889 confirmed, 105 probable and 35 deaths, three probable; Alger County, 1,058 confirmed, 658 probable and eight deaths, five probable; Schoolcraft County, 1,084 confirmed cases and 663 probable, 13 deaths and three probable; Mackinac County, 1,568 confirmed cases and 842 probable, 28 deaths and two probable; Baraga County, 1,721 confirmed cases, 318 probable and 51 deaths, two probable; Iron County, 2,316 confirmed cases and 333 probable, 71 deaths and 16 probable; Gogebic County, 2,744 confirmed cases and 521 probable, 40 deaths and 29 probable; Chippewa County, 3,451 confirmed cases and 5,073 probable, and 87 deaths, 17 probable; Menominee County, 3,945 confirmed cases, 1,680 probable and 60 deaths, 10 probable; Dickinson County, 4,987 confirmed cases and 2,385 probable, 86 deaths and 22 probable; Houghton County, 6,750 confirmed cases, 1,086 probable, 81 deaths and 11 probable; Delta County, 7,906 confirmed cases and 2,029 probable, 133 deaths and 24 probable; and Marquette County, 11,980 confirmed cases, 3,035 probable and 119 deaths, 10 probable. State figures can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.
The MDHHS on Wednesday had 10,474 new confirmed and probable coronavirus positives in Michigan since April 13, or an average of about 1,496 per day for the week's span, for a total of 2,411,464 cases since COVID tracking began. The state for that period added 78 confirmed and probable deaths attributed to the virus to reach 35,935.
The state earlier this month switched to updating COVID-19 data only once a week, on Wednesdays.
