ESCANABA -- A Marquette woman was sentenced to 24 months to up to 20 years in prison recently for selling methamphetamine in the Escanaba area.
The charges against Melissa Ann Dubord, 37, stemmed from two incidents when the Upper Peninsula Substance Abuse Enforcement South Team (UPSET) were conducting investigations in the area. On May 11, 2021, UPSET, investigating in Gladstone, arranged for and successfully purchased a gram of meth from Dubord. On June 17, 2021, UPSET made the same arrangement to purchase of a gram of meth for $200 from Dubord in the city of Escanaba.
Following the June purchase, Michigan State Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Dubord. The Michigan State Police K9 conducted an exterior search of the vehicle and alerted officers to the presence of narcotics.
While searching the vehicle, officers discovered money used to purchase the meth from Dubord was in her possession. She was released from the traffic stop and returned to a residence in the 400 block of Stephenson Avenue. A search warrant was issued for the residence, where additional methamphetamine, money and other drug paraphernalia was discovered.
Dubord is lodged in the Huron Valley Correctional Facility. Her earliest release date is July 12, 2023.
UPSET was assisted in their investigations by Michigan State Police, the Delta County Sheriff's Office and Escanaba Public Safety.
