HERMANSVILLE — The Annual Young Trapper’s Workshop will take place at the Community Center in Hermansville on February 5, with doors opening at 8 a.m. Activities will last until approximately 4 p.m. CST. Admission is free and this event is open to the public. Food and refreshments will be available for purchase throughout the day.

“Even though this workshop is titled “Young Trapper’s” it is attended and enjoyed by adults as well. Many veteran trappers attend, and always seem to learn more “tricks of the trade” from the demonstrations offered. This is a great event where the ‘old timers’ of District 3 have as much fun teaching the kids as the kids do learning from them,” said Mike Lewis, along time member of U.P. Trappers and coordinator of workshop. “The members of this club are extremely proud of this event and hope you will attend,” Lewis added.

Local trapping veterans will be giving demonstrations on harvesting various furbearers. They will not only show how to effectively capture the critters but will also emphasize: safety, rules, proper trap size and type to use for an ethical and humane capture. That along with the methods and techniques they share will help all to get started in the sport, or become more successful fur harvesters. Open questions and answers during the demos are welcome and encouraged.

All young attendees will receive free traps/equipment and each is guaranteed a door prize. Raffles, games and lots of free stuff will be available as well.
