8 COVID-19 deaths in Delta and Menominee
ESCANABA Local data Monday showed both Delta and Menominee counties have had four more deaths attributed to COVID-19 since Thursday.
Delta County also had 77 new confirmed coronavirus positives and 20 probable cases in that five-day period, while Menominee County added 25 confirmed positives and 15 probables, according to Public Health of Delta and Menominee Counties.
The PHDM website had Delta County at 5,381 confirmed positives, 1,224 probable cases and 123 deaths to date. Menominee County has had 2,852 confirmed positives, 1,005 probables and 57 deaths. The deaths included confirmed and probable.
At the state level, figures on the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services coronavirus website Monday indicated 428 new confirmed COVID-19 positives in the Upper Peninsula since Thursday: 88 in Marquette County, 63 in Delta County, 49 in Houghton County, 46 in Gogebic County, the 34 in Dickinson County, 31 in Chippewa County, 22 in Menominee County, the 20 in Iron County, 18 in Mackinac County, 17 in Baraga County, 14 in Alger County, 13 in Schoolcraft County, eight in Keweenaw County, three in Ontonagon County and two in Luce County. The state posted nine more virus-related deaths for the U.P. — three in Delta County, two in both Menominee and Chippewa counties and one each in Iron and Marquette counties.
Using only the MDHHS numbers, the Upper Peninsula as of Monday has had 32,557 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 580 deaths.
Across the U.P., the MDHHS data site Monday had Keweenaw County at 318 confirmed cases and 41 probable, and seven confirmed deaths and one probable death; Luce County, 403 confirmed cases and 455 probable, four confirmed deaths and one probable death; Ontonagon County, 612 confirmed, 76 probable and 22 deaths, one probable; Alger County, 635 confirmed, 347 probable and four deaths, five probable; Schoolcraft County, 723 confirmed cases and 269 probable, five deaths and one probable; Mackinac County, 982 confirmed cases and 503 probable, 13 deaths and one probable; Baraga County, 1,184 confirmed cases, 202 probable and 44 deaths, two probable; Iron County, 1,526 confirmed cases and 170 probable, 53 deaths and 12 probable; Gogebic County, 1,676 confirmed cases and 425 probable, 27 deaths and 29 probable; Chippewa County, 1,869 confirmed cases and 2,582 probable, and 46 deaths, 10 probable; Menominee County, 2,845 confirmed cases, 1,000 probable and 49 deaths, five probable; Dickinson County, 3,363 confirmed cases and 1,236 probable, 69 deaths and 17 probable; Houghton County, 4,356 confirmed cases, 834 probable, 51 deaths and 10 probable; Delta County, 5,361 confirmed cases and 1,208 probable, 102 deaths and 20 probable; and Marquette County, 6,704 confirmed cases, 1,465 probable and 84 deaths, five probable. State figures can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.
The MDHHS has had 25,329 confirmed new coronavirus positives in Michigan since Thursday, or an average of about 5,066 per day for the five-day period, for a total to date of 1,301,593. The state since Thursday has added 137 deaths attributed to the virus — including 57 that occurred earlier but were recently verified through a vital records review — to reach 23,732.
The state issues new COVID-19 data on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. However, no new figures were posted Friday due to the Thanksgiving holiday.
