33 COVID cases in Delta, 1 death in Menominee

ESCANABA — Local data Wednesday showed Delta County added 33 confirmed COVID-19 positives since Monday, while Menominee County had 20 new cases and a death blamed on the coronavirus.

Menominee County also had 15 probable cases and Delta County 10 probables for the two-day period, according to Public Health of Delta and Menominee Counties website.

The PHDM on Wednesday had Delta County at 5,669 confirmed positives, 1,280 probable cases and 131 deaths. Menominee County has had 3,007 confirmed positives, 1,090 probables and 59 deaths. The deaths included confirmed and probable.

At the state level, figures on the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services coronavirus website Wednesday indicated 274 new confirmed COVID-19 positives in the Upper Peninsula since Monday: 59 in Marquette County, 35 in Houghton County, 32 in Delta County, 30 in Dickinson County, 22 in Gogebic County, 18 in Menominee and Chippewa counties, 17 in Iron County, 10 in Schoolcraft and Alger counties, nine in Baraga County, seven in Ontonagon County, six in Mackinac County and one in Luce County; Keweenaw County’s count was reduced by one. The state added two virus-related deaths in Houghton County and one each in Dickinson, Baraga, Gogebic, Keweenaw, Mackinac, Ontonagon and Chippewa counties.

Using only the MDHHS numbers, the Upper Peninsula as of Wednesday has had 34,774 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 626 deaths.

Across the U.P., the MDHHS data site Wednesday had Keweenaw County at 342 confirmed cases and 43 probable, and nine confirmed deaths and one probable death; Luce County, 446 confirmed cases and 525 probable, four confirmed deaths and one probable death; Ontonagon County, 641 confirmed, 78 probable and 25 deaths, one probable; Alger County, 673 confirmed, 374 probable and four deaths, five probable; Schoolcraft County, 797 confirmed cases and 366 probable, six deaths and one probable; Mackinac County, 1,064 confirmed cases and 564 probable, 17 deaths and one probable; Baraga County, 1,239 confirmed cases, 210 probable and 45 deaths, two probable; Iron County, 1,632 confirmed cases and 190 probable, 57 deaths and 13 probable; Gogebic County, 1,834 confirmed cases and 428 probable, 31 deaths and 29 probable; Chippewa County, 2,020 confirmed cases and 2,854 probable, and 52 deaths, 11 probable; Menominee County, 2,999 confirmed cases, 1,086 probable and 50 deaths, eight probable; Dickinson County, 3,568 confirmed cases and 1,363 probable, 74 deaths and 18 probable; Houghton County, 4,687 confirmed cases, 855 probable, 55 deaths and 10 probable; Delta County, 5,658 confirmed cases and 1,273 probable, 109 deaths and 22 probable; and Marquette County, 7,174 confirmed cases, 1,650 probable and 88 deaths, five probable. State figures can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

The MDHHS had 11,722 new confirmed coronavirus positives in Michigan since Monday, or an average of about 5,861 per day for the two-day period, for a total to date of 1,408,189. The state since Monday has added 330 deaths attributed to the virus — including 230 that occurred earlier but were recently verified through a vital records review — to reach 25,570.
