1 more dead from virus in Delta County
Local data Friday showed Delta County has had 61 new confirmed COVID-19 positives in the past two days, along with another death blamed on the virus, while Menominee County added 28 cases.
Public Health of Delta and Menominee Counties also listed 16 probable cases in Menominee County and 13 probables in Delta County since Wednesday.
The PHDM website Friday had Delta County at 5,225 confirmed positives, 1,178 probable cases and 116 deaths to date. Menominee County has had 2,780 confirmed positives, 959 probables and 52 deaths. The deaths included confirmed and probable.
At the state level, figures on the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services coronavirus website Friday indicated 406 new confirmed COVID-19 positives in the Upper Peninsula since Wednesday: 115 in Houghton County, 63 in Delta County, 53 in Marquette County, 29 in Gogebic County, 28 in Menominee County, 27 in Chippewa County, 21 in Dickinson County, 16 in Baraga County, 14 in Iron County, nine in Mackinac County, eight in Alger and Keweenaw counties, six in Schoolcraft and Luce counties, and three in Ontonagon County. The state added a single virus-related death each in Delta, Iron and Houghton counties.
Using only the MDHHS numbers, the Upper Peninsula as of Friday has had 31,367 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 559 deaths.
Across the U.P., the MDHHS data site Friday had Keweenaw County at 294 confirmed cases and 40 probable, and six confirmed deaths and one probable death; Luce County, 393 confirmed cases and 427 probable, four confirmed deaths and one probable death; Ontonagon County, 602 confirmed, 78 probable and 22 deaths, one probable; Alger County, 608 confirmed, 332 probable and four deaths, five probable; Schoolcraft County, 693 confirmed cases and 267 probable, five deaths and one probable; Mackinac County, 941 confirmed cases and 485 probable, 13 deaths and one probable; Baraga County, 1,149 confirmed cases, 201 probable and 44 deaths, two probable; Iron County, 1,461 confirmed cases and 162 probable, 51 deaths and 11 probable; Gogebic County, 1,572 confirmed cases and 416 probable, 26 deaths and 29 probable; Chippewa County, 1,786 confirmed cases and 2,531 probable, and 43 deaths, 10 probable; Menominee County, 2,772 confirmed cases, 953 probable and 47 deaths, five probable; Dickinson County, 3,267 confirmed cases and 1,147 probable, 68 deaths and 17 probable; Houghton County, 4,132 confirmed cases, 808 probable, 49 deaths and 10 probable; Delta County, 5,217 confirmed cases and 1,169 probable, 95 deaths and 20 probable; and Marquette County, 6,480 confirmed cases, 1,445 probable and 82 deaths, five probable. State figures can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.
The MDHHS has had 17,980 confirmed new coronavirus positives in Michigan since Wednesday, or an average of about 8,990 per day for the two-day period, for a total to date of 1,242,253. The state since Wednesday has added 128 deaths attributed to the virus — including 71 that occurred earlier but were recently verified through a vital records review — to reach 23,232.
