Six COVID-19 deaths in Delta, Menominee counties

Local data Monday showed three additional deaths due to COVID-19 in both Delta and Menominee counties within the past four days, along with 46 and 15 new confirmed coronavirus positives, respectively.

Public Health of Delta and Menominee Counties as of Monday also had 22 more probable virus cases in Delta County and 10 in Menominee County since its update Thursday.

The PHDM website Monday had Delta County at 4,727 confirmed positives, 1,045 probable cases and 106 deaths to date. Menominee County has had 2,545 confirmed positives, 798 probables and 51 deaths. The deaths included confirmed and probable.

At the state level, figures on the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services coronavirus website Monday indicated 185 new confirmed COVID-19 positives in the Upper Peninsula since Friday: 37 in Marquette County; 31 in Delta County; 25 in Houghton County; 17 in Baraga County; 12 in Ontonagon County; 10 each in Menominee, Dickinson, Mackinac and Chippewa counties; seven in Iron County; six each in Keweenaw and Gogebic counties; three in Luce County; and one in Schoolcraft County. The state also posted new virus-related deaths in Chippewa and Alger counties.

Using only the MDHHS numbers, the Upper Peninsula as of Monday has had 27,748 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 514 deaths.

Across the U.P., the MDHHS data Monday had Keweenaw County at 218 confirmed cases and 34 probable, and three confirmed death and one probable death; Luce County, 338 confirmed cases and 384 probable, four confirmed deaths and one probable death; Ontonagon County, 548 confirmed, 64 probable and 21 deaths, one probable; Alger County, 549 confirmed, 296 probable and four deaths, five probable; Schoolcraft County, 592 confirmed cases and 206 probable, four deaths and one probable; Mackinac County, 854 confirmed cases and 426 probable, eight deaths and one probable; Baraga County, 980 confirmed cases, 151 probable and 44 deaths, two probable; Iron County, 1,298 confirmed cases and 117 probable, 46 deaths and 10 probable; Gogebic County, 1,400 confirmed cases and 408 probable, 24 deaths and 29 probable; Chippewa County, 1,545 confirmed cases and 2,198 probable, and 41 deaths, eight probable; Menominee County, 2,541 confirmed cases, 790 probable and 46 deaths, five probable; Dickinson County, 3,045 confirmed cases and 924 probable, 64 deaths and 16 probable; Houghton County, 3,330 confirmed cases, 703 probable, 45 deaths and 10 probable; Delta County, 4,718 confirmed cases and 1,029 probable, 85 deaths and 19 probable; and Marquette County, 5,792 confirmed cases, 1,274 probable and 75 deaths, two probable. State figures can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

The MDHHS on Monday had 7,856 confirmed new coronavirus positives in Michigan since Friday, or an average of about 2,618 per day for the three days, for a total to date of 1,112,490. The state Monday added 56 deaths attributed to the virus — including 29 that occurred earlier but were recently verified through a vital records review — to reach 21,218.
