Schoolcraft sobriety, mental health courts get funding
MANISTIQUE — The 93rd District Court of Schoolcraft County received grant award letters from the State Court Administrators Office (SCAO) for continuing operation of its Sobriety Treatment Court and Regional Mental Health Court (EUPMHC). The Sobriety Treatment Court was awarded $36,470 and the Mental Health Treatment Court was awarded $193,496. These funds are used for costs associated with various types of clinical treatment, supplies, drug/alcohol testing, electronic monitoring, and staff wages.
The 93rd District Court Regional Mental Health Court and Sobriety Treatment Court were both audited by SCAO Trial Court Services in 2021 to renew certification of the programs which is expected to be received in the coming months. The certification process is meant to be an independent evaluation of a programs operation and outcomes to ensure that its following evidence based best practices and operating procedures.

“The philosophy of treatment court programs is based on a team approach. Yes, the treatment court judge makes the final decisions in a participant’s case, but those decisions are based on reviews and recommendations of our highly trained staff and team members. I would like to thank everyone involved in our treatment courts operation for their excellent work and continued support,” he said.
