Delta, Menominee counties see new COVID-19 deaths

Local data showed a new death due to COVID-19 in both Delta and Menominee counties, along with 22 and 13 new confirmed positives, respectively.

Public Health of Delta and Menominee Counties as of Thursday also had eight more probable coronavirus cases in Menominee County and two in Delta County since Wednesday.

The PHDM website Thursday had Delta County at 4,681 confirmed positives, 1,023 probable cases and 103 deaths to date. Menominee County has had 2,530 confirmed positives, 788 probables and 47 deaths. The deaths included confirmed and probable.

At the state level, figures on the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services coronavirus website Friday indicated 287 new confirmed COVID-19 positives in the Upper Peninsula since Wednesday: 87 in Houghton County; 50 in Marquette County; 38 in Delta County; 22 in Menominee County; 19 in Dickinson County; 13 in Schoolcraft County; 12 in Mackinac County; 10 in Chippewa County; seven each in Iron, Gogebic and Baraga counties; five in Alger County; four in Luce and Keweenaw counties; and two in Ontonagon County. The state figures reflected the new virus-related death in Delta, Menominee, as well as in Iron, Chippewa and Mackinac counties.

Using only the MDHHS numbers, the Upper Peninsula as of Friday has had 27,563 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 512 deaths.

Across the U.P., the MDHHS data Friday had Keweenaw County at 212 confirmed cases and 34 probable, and three confirmed death and one probable death; Luce County, 335 confirmed cases and 379 probable, four confirmed deaths and one probable death; Ontonagon County, 536 confirmed, 66 probable and 21 deaths, one probable; Alger County, 549 confirmed, 295 probable and three deaths, five probable; Schoolcraft County, 591 confirmed cases and 205 probable, four deaths and one probable; Mackinac County, 844 confirmed cases and 423 probable, eight deaths and one probable; Baraga County, 963 confirmed cases, 151 probable and 44 deaths, two probable; Iron County, 1,291 confirmed cases and 117 probable, 46 deaths and 10 probable; Gogebic County, 1,394 confirmed cases and 408 probable, 24 deaths and 29 probable; Chippewa County, 1,535 confirmed cases and 2,186 probable, and 40 deaths, eight probable; Menominee County, 2,531 confirmed cases, 788 probable and 46 deaths, five probable; Dickinson County, 3,035 confirmed cases and 916 probable, 64 deaths and 16 probable; Houghton County, 3,305 confirmed cases, 689 probable, 45 deaths and 10 probable; Delta County, 4,687 confirmed cases and 1,022 probable, 85 deaths and 19 probable; and Marquette County, 5,755 confirmed cases, 1,258 probable and 75 deaths, two probable. State figures can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

The MDHHS on Friday had 7,505 confirmed new coronavirus positives in Michigan since Wednesday, or an average of about 3,752 per day for the two days, for a total to date of 1,104,634. The state Friday added 118 deaths attributed to the virus — including 69 that occurred earlier but were recently verified through a vital records review — to reach 21,862.
