300 new COVID-19 cases reported in U.P.

Local data Wednesday showed 33 new confirmed COVID-19 positives in Delta County in the past two days, while Menominee County had 26 more cases and another coronavirus-related death.

Public Health of Delta and Menominee Counties also added 16 probable coronavirus cases in Menominee County and six in Delta County since Monday.

The PHDM website Wednesday had Delta County at 4,659 confirmed positives, 1,021 probable cases and 102 deaths to date. Menominee County has had 2,517 confirmed positives, 780 probables and 46 deaths. The deaths included confirmed and probable.

At the state level, figures on the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services coronavirus website Wednesday indicated 300 new confirmed COVID-19 positives in the Upper Peninsula since Monday: 59 in Marquette County, 45 in Houghton County, 43 in Delta County, 30 in Menominee County, 22 in Chippewa County, 18 in Dickinson County, 17 in Baraga County, 14 in Gogebic County, 12 in Iron and Luce counties, nine in Mackinac County, seven in Schoolcraft County, six in Keweenaw County and three in Alger and Ontonagon counties. The state also recorded three more virus-related deaths in Chippewa County, two in Marquette County and one in Baraga County.

Using only the MDHHS numbers, the Upper Peninsula as of Wednesday has had 27,276 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 507 deaths.

Across the U.P., the MDHHS data Wednesday had Keweenaw County at 208 confirmed cases and 34 probable, and three confirmed death and one probable death; Luce County, 331 confirmed cases and 374 probable, four confirmed deaths and one probable death; Ontonagon County, 534 confirmed, 66 probable and 21 deaths, one probable; Alger County, 544 confirmed, 294 probable and three deaths, five probable; Schoolcraft County, 578 confirmed cases and 201 probable, four deaths and one probable; Mackinac County, 832 confirmed cases and 415 probable, seven deaths and one probable; Baraga County, 956 confirmed cases, 154 probable and 44 deaths, two probable; Iron County, 1,284 confirmed cases and 116 probable, 45 deaths and 10 probable; Gogebic County, 1,387 confirmed cases and 409 probable, 24 deaths and 29 probable; Chippewa County, 1,525 confirmed cases and 2,162 probable, and 39 deaths, eight probable; Menominee County, 2,509 confirmed cases, 764 probable and 45 deaths, five probable; Dickinson County, 3,016 confirmed cases and 911 probable, 64 deaths and 16 probable; Houghton County, 3,218 confirmed cases, 686 probable, 45 deaths and 10 probable; Delta County, 4,649 confirmed cases and 1,008 probable, 84 deaths and 19 probable; and Marquette County, 5,705 confirmed cases, 1,252 probable and 75 deaths, two probable. State figures can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

The MDHHS on Wednesday had 7,108 confirmed new coronavirus positives in Michigan since Monday, or an average of 3,554 per day for the two days, for a total to date of 1,097,129. The state Wednesday added 135 deaths attributed to the virus — including 78 that occurred earlier but were recently verified through a vital records review — to reach 21,744.
