1 more dead from virus in Menominee

Local data Friday showed 33 new confirmed COVID-19 positives in Delta County in the past two days, while Menominee County had another coronavirus-related death along with 21 more cases.

Public Health of Delta and Menominee Counties also added 15 probable coronavirus cases in Menominee County and six probables in Delta County over the past two days.

The PHDM website Friday had Delta County at 4,561 confirmed positives, 1,003 probable cases and 102 deaths to date. Menominee County has had 2,470 confirmed positives, 752 probables and 45 deaths. The deaths included confirmed and probable.

At the state level, figures on the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services coronavirus website Friday indicated 296 new confirmed COVID-19 positives in the Upper Peninsula since Wednesday: 54 in Marquette County, 40 in Delta County, 36 in Houghton County, 26 in Dickinson County, 24 in Menominee County, 23 in Mackinac County, 21 in Baraga County, 20 in Chippewa County, 15 in Iron County, 14 in Schoolcraft County, 10 in Gogebic County, five in Alger County, three in both Luce and Ontonagon counties, and two in Keweenaw County. The state recorded two more virus-related deaths in Marquette County and one each in Menominee, Iron and Houghton counties.

Using only the MDHHS numbers, the Upper Peninsula as of Friday has had 26,734 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 501 deaths.

Across the U.P., the MDHHS data Friday had Keweenaw County at 201 confirmed cases and 34 ­probable, and three confirmed death and one probable death; Luce County, 316 confirmed cases and 367 probable, four confirmed deaths and one probable death; Ontonagon County, 528 confirmed, 65 probable and 21 deaths, one probable; Alger County, 538 confirmed, 289 probable and three deaths, five probable; Schoolcraft County, 570 confirmed cases and 183 probable, four deaths and one probable; Mackinac County, 810 confirmed cases and 405 probable, seven deaths; Baraga County, 927 confirmed cases, 150 probable and 43 deaths, two probable; Iron County, 1,263 confirmed cases and 114 probable, 45 deaths and 10 probable; Gogebic County, 1,358 confirmed cases and 408 probable, 24 deaths and 29 probable; Chippewa County, 1,491 confirmed cases and 2,120 probable, and 36 deaths, six probable; Menominee County, 2,466 confirmed cases, 745 probable and 45 deaths, four probable; Dickinson County, 2,980 confirmed cases and 871 probable, 64 deaths and 16 probable; Houghton County, 3,133 confirmed cases, 679 probable, 45 deaths and 10 probable; Delta County, 4,552 confirmed cases and 997 probable, 84 deaths and 19 probable; and Marquette County, 5,601 confirmed cases, 1,214 probable and 73 deaths, two probable. State figures can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

The MDHHS on Friday had 8,297 confirmed new coronavirus positives in Michigan since Wednesday, or an average of about 4,149 per day for the two days, for a total to date of 1,081,525. The state Friday added 104 deaths attributed to the virus — including 58 that occurred earlier but were recently verified through a vital records review — to reach 21,563.
