Bohnak fired for refusal to get vaccinated

MARQUETTE — Long-time Upper Peninsula weatherman Karl Bohnak has been terminated from his position with TV6 because he refused to be vaccinated against COVID-19.

In a lengthy Facebook post made Wednesday afternoon, Bohnak stated the station’s corporate owner, Gray Television, mandated vaccines for anyone entering property owned by the company. Bohnak cited multiple reasons for refusing the vaccine, including what he saw as a lack of liability for vaccine producers, a high survival rate for the disease, and an “aboration of our liberty and freedom under the guise of a pandemic.”

“We are being bludgeoned with fear, I believe, in an effort to control us,” Bohnak wrote.

Bohnak had worked for TV6 for 33 years.
