CRIVITZ — A Green Bay man drown Saturday while tubing in the Peshtigo River, Marinette County Sheriff Jerry Sauve said. The body of Anthony L. Rogers, 40, of Green Bay was later recovered by searchers.

At approximately 3:41 p.m., the Marinette County Dispatch Center received a 911 call from witnesses reporting a man they were tubing with had disappeared underwater on the Peshtigo River downstream from Don Brooks Park in the Village of Crivitz. Emergency personnel from several agencies responded and contributed greatly in the search and rescue effort, however, the rescue mission became one of recovery when the Rogers’ body was located and recovered by use of a river drag device deployed from a watercraft.

The investigation is ongoing.
