Two U.P. men face child porn charges

ESCANABA -- The Michigan State Police Computer Crimes Unit, Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force announced Thursday two Upper Peninsula men have been charged with the possession of child sexually abusive material.

While both arrests came from investigations stemming from National Center for Missing and Exploited Children cyber tips, MSP has not indicated the two cases are in any way connected.

Matthew John Ance, 37, of Iron Mountain was arraigned in 95B District Court on May 7 after a search of a Dickinson County residence led to the seizure of multiple internet capable devices and other evidence. Ance was charged with six counts of child sexually abusive material – aggravated possession and six counts of using a computer to commit a crime.

Remo Valentino Perry, 32, of Marquette, was arraigned in the 96th District Court on May 7 after a search of his residence led to the seizure of evidence and multiple internet capable devices. Perry was charged with four counts of child sexually abusive material – aggravated possession and four counts of using a computer to commit a crime.

In both cases, the maximum sentence for each count of aggravated possession of child sexually abusive material is 10 years in prison and the maximum sentence for using a computer to commit a crime is 20 years in prison for each count.
