Single-digit increase in local virus cases

Delta County reported only three more confirmed COVID-19 positives and Menominee County only one new case Friday, data from local health officials showed.

The Public Health of Delta and Menominee Counties website update Friday also listed two new probable cases in Delta County and one in Menominee County. No new deaths were recorded in either county.

As of Friday, Delta County has had 3,271 confirmed positives, 660 probable and 89 deaths, according to PHDMC. Menominee County had 1,761 confirmed cases, 321 probable and 39 deaths. The deaths included confirmed and probable.

State data Friday had eight new confirmed positives in Schoolcraft County for a second straight day, plus six in Delta County and one in Menominee County.

For the Upper Peninsula, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ coronavirus website Friday added 58 new confirmed positives: 13 in Marquette County; 10 in Baraga County; eight in Schoolcraft County; six in Delta County; four in Chippewa, Houghton and Gogebic counties; two in Dickinson, Iron and Mackinac counties; and one each in Menominee, Luce and Ontonagon counties. The state had a new coronavirus-related death in both Baraga and Chippewa counties.

Using only the state’s figures, the Upper Peninsula as of Friday has had 19,450 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 416 deaths.

Across the U.P., the MDHHS data site Friday had Keweenaw County at 142 confirmed cases and 31 probable, and one confirmed death and one probable death; Luce County, 186 confirmed cases and 204 probable, one confirmed death and one probable death; Schoolcraft County, 317 confirmed cases and 65 probable, four deaths and one probable; Alger County, 319 confirmed, 188 probable and two deaths, four probable; Ontonagon County, 399 confirmed, 57 probable and 20 deaths, one probable; Mackinac County, 408 confirmed cases and 227 probable, three deaths; Baraga County, 619 confirmed cases, 118 probable and 36 deaths; Iron County, 957 confirmed cases and 66 probable, 42 deaths and nine probable; Gogebic County, 1,012 confirmed cases and 360 probable, 22 deaths and 28 probable; Chippewa County, 1,046 confirmed cases and 1,366 probable, and 28 deaths, five probable; Menominee County, 1,758 confirmed cases, 318 probable and 39 deaths, two probable; Dickinson County, 2,366 confirmed cases and 326 probable, 58 deaths and 16 probable; Houghton County, 2,472 confirmed cases, 602 probable, 32 deaths and eight probable; Delta County, 3,265 confirmed cases and 654 probable, 71 deaths and 19 probable; and Marquette County, 4,184 confirmed cases, 796 probable and 57 deaths, one probable. State numbers are updated almost daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

The MDHHS on Friday posted 2,758 confirmed new coronavirus positives in Michigan for a total to date of 860,808. The state Friday had 30 deaths attributed to the virus to reach 18,084.
