Lynn Lancour and Stuart Spaude cycle through the Deep South as part of the Gears N Grind cross-country fundraiser for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society recently. Lancour said they drove on “no shoulder all day” but arrived as hoped in Orange Beach, Ala. on May 19 in time for Lancour’s 60th birthday. Lancour and companions began the trek in San Diego on April 8 en route to St. Augustine, Fla. and are only $8,000 shy of a $50,000 goal. She said despite stormy weather, dog chases and wipeouts, the group has seen an interesting slice of America while pursuing an important goal. A former local resident, Lancour is the daughter of Bill and Liz Lancour of Escanaba. To donate or for more information, go to gearsngrind.com
