Chamber plans summer events

ESCANABA — The Delta County Chamber of Commerce is partnering with various organizations to provide the community with 14 events in 2021.

The Chamber will revisit the year the organization was formed during its Roaring 20s Fundraising Gala at the Island Resort and Casino sponsored by OSF Health Care on May 22. The fundraiser will include an evening of fine dining, live auctions, instant prizes, and live music from the band, Passion. Heading into summer, the Chamber will host its Annual Golf Outing at the Highland Golf Course on June 3.

The return of the LPGA Symmetry Tour’s Island Resort Championship at Sweetgrass in Harris is set for June 11-13. The Chamber, as presenting sponsor, will again organize the nearly 300 volunteer shifts to help the tournament run as smoothly as possible. Spectators will watch rising golfers swing their way to LPGA professional status.

On July 1, head to the new Delta County Commerce Center for the Chamber Centennial Celebration with food, drinks, music, and tours of the Webster Marble Inventing the Outdoors Museum, U.P. Veterans Museum, and U.P. Honor Flight Legacy Museum will officially open to the public during the centennial celebration.

There will be several activities happening during the three-day Great Lakes H.O.G Rally on July 22-24. Hundreds of Harleys will ride through Escanaba during the Friday parade. There will be food, drinks, and music at the municipal dock in the afternoon.

The Michigan Walleye Tour is set for August 6-8 as 120 two-person teams hit the Bays de Noc in search of championship walleye.

The Upper Peninsula State Fair will be held August 16-22. The grandstand lineup includes Helen Debacker, Buckcherry, Josh Turner, Hairball, Heart to Heartbreaker, and Crazy Babies, along with the North East Ohio Dukes Stunt Show and UPIR Racing.

The 75th Annual Great Lakes Logging & Heavy Equipment Expo is happening at U.P. State Fairgrounds from September 9-11. “This unique event is perfect for timber enthusiasts or anyone looking to see heavy machines compete,” Chamber officials said.

The Delta County Century Ride is September 19. Bike on one of four different length routes and enjoy food, drinks, and entertainment along the way.

“The Delta County Chamber of Commerce will follow the COVID-19 guidelines provided by state and local health officials. Extra planning has gone into creating a safe and fun environment for all attendees. After a challenging year, the Chamber is looking forward to returning old events and welcoming new events for the community’s enjoyment,” Chamber officials said.
