COVID-19 cases continue to slow in the U.P., locally
ESCANABA — As of Monday, the U.P. had 16,314 confirmed cases of COVID-19 (an increase of 40 cases since Friday), 3,989 probable cases, 382 deaths and 91 probable deaths linked to the disease, according to state officials.
Note on cases: Monday’s daily case count represents new referrals of confirmed cases to the MDSS since Saturday, February 20th. Over the two days, Sunday and Monday, the average number of new confirmed cases is 742 per day.
The figure does not include prisoners in the Michigan Department of Corrections.
According to the state’s county-by-county count issued Monday, Delta County had a total of 2,640 confirmed COVID-19 cases (unchanged), 470 probable cases, 65 deaths and 19 probable deaths; Menominee County had 1,614 confirmed cases (an increase of two), 261 probable cases, 35 deaths and two probable deaths; Schoolcraft County had 229 confirmed cases ( unchanged), 29 probable cases, four deaths and one probable death.
Elsewhere in the peninsula, Alger County had 277 confirmed cases, 156 probable cases, one death and two probable deaths; Baraga County had 503 confirmed cases, 98 probable cases and 32 deaths; Chippewa County had 715 confirmed cases, 1,015 probable cases, 22 deaths and four probable deaths; Dickinson County had 2,125 confirmed cases, 237 probable cases, 55 deaths and 14 probable deaths; Gogebic County had 921 confirmed cases, 338 probable cases, 19 deaths and 28 probable deaths; Houghton County had 2,094 confirmed cases, 518 probable cases, 32 deaths and eight probable deaths; Iron County had 865 confirmed cases, 61 probable cases, 40 deaths and nine probable deaths; Keweenaw County had 112 confirmed cases, 28 probable cases, one death and one probable death; Luce County had 132 confirmed cases, 83 probable cases and one probable death; Mackinac County had 286 confirmed cases, 151 probable cases, and three deaths; Marquette County had 3,443 confirmed cases, 493 probable cases, 54 deaths and one probable death; and Ontonagon County had 358 confirmed cases, 52 probable cases, 19 deaths and one probable death.
