Marquette tops 2,000 virus cases
ESCANABA — The Upper Peninsula had 9,759 confirmed cases of COVID-19, 1,601 probable cases, 170 deaths and 29 probable deaths linked to the disease, as of Tuesday according to state officials.
Delta County had a total of 1,869 confirmed COVID-19 cases, 239 probable cases, 46 deaths and nine probable deaths; Menominee County had 993 confirmed cases, 103 probable cases and 11 deaths; Schoolcraft County had 148 confirmed cases, eight probable cases, one death and one probable death.
Elsewhere in the peninsula, Alger County had 129 confirmed cases, 48 probable cases, one death and one probable death; Baraga County had 296 confirmed cases, 45 probable cases and five deaths; Chippewa County had 250 confirmed cases, 313 probable cases and two deaths; Dickinson County had 1,333 confirmed cases, 58 probable case and 28 deaths and two probable deaths; Gogebic County had 494 confirmed cases, 170 probable cases, nine death and 10 probable death; Houghton County had 1,085 confirmed cases, 241 probable cases, eight deaths and two probable deaths; Iron County had 598 confirmed cases, 35 probable cases, 28 deaths and four probable deaths; Keweenaw County had 44 confirmed cases, three probable case and one death; Luce County had 105 confirmed cases and 39 probable case; Mackinac County had 181 confirmed cases and 47 probable cases; Marquette County had 2,011 confirmed cases, 229 probable cases and 23 deaths; and Ontonagon County had 223 confirmed cases, 23 probable cases and seven deaths.
The state does not include infections or deaths within the Michigan Department of Corrections system in county-by-county counts, however, as of Monday, the MDOC had 9,249 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 172 probable cases and 76 deaths according to state officials. In the U.P. Alger Correctional Facility has had 68 confirmed cases, 10 confirmed staff cases; Baraga Correctional Facility has had nine confirmed cases, 32 confirmed staff cases; Chippewa Correctional Facility has had 110 confirmed cases, 19 confirmed staff cases; Kinross Correctional Facility has had 30 confirmed cases, 24 confirmed staff cases; Marquette Correctional Facility has had 845 confirmed cases, 166 confirmed staff cases; and Newberry Facility has had 642 confirmed cases and 54 confirmed staff cases. No deaths within the Michigan Department of Corrections in the U.P.
