Woman injured in crash near Hunters Point

ENSIGN — A crash on the Stonington Peninsula sent a woman to the hospital early Wednesday morning.

At around 3:40 a.m., Ensign Township Fire Department was called to a report of a single vehicle crash on County Road 513 near Hunters Point. The driver of the vehicle had swerved to avoid striking a deer, causing the vehicle to go airborne, roll multiple times, and land on the driver’s side door in the trees near the road. The roof of the vehicle was removed to extract the driver, who was stabilized and transported to OSF St. Francis Hospital.

Assisting at the scene were Michigan State Police, Ensign Township Fire Department, Delta County Sheriff’s Department, Masonville Township EMS, Masonville Township Fire Department, Rampart EMS and Escanaba Public Safety Jaws of Life.
