Daggett man dies in single-vehicle crash

DAGGETT TOWNSHIP — A one-vehicle traffic crash claimed the life of a Daggett man Saturday.

On Saturday, June 20 at about 11:17 p.m., deputies of the Menominee County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a traffic crash on US 41 north of Belgiumtown Road in Daggett Township. A four-door passenger car was traveling northbound on the highway when it lost control, crossed the centerline, left the roadway and collided with multiple trees.

The vehicle’s sole occupant, Luis Angel Maldonado Rosario, 29, of Daggett, was pronounced dead at the scene. A Menominee County Sheriff’s Office accident investigator was called to the scene and the resulting investigation showed speed and alcohol were factors in the crash.

The Menominee County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Daggett Township Fire Department, Mid County Rescue Squad and Extrication and Michigan State Police at the scene.
