Schoolcraft County alters operations

MANISTIQUE — Schoolcraft County has closed its offices to all non-essential employees and functions until Monday, April 13, the county announced Monday. People are asked to contact specific offices to learn more about processes in place for essential functions.

As was previously announced, all Schoolcraft County board and committee meetings through the end of April have been canceled. Courts in the county may have canceled or rescheduled hearings (though courthouse offices will be closed until further notice) and the jail has been closed to the public.

Schoolcraft County Building and Zoning is still doing plan reviews, issuing permits and scheduling inspections. Plan reviews, communications with applicants and questions will be handled remotely. Inspections will be scheduled as long as sites are empty while inspectors are present. Calls and emails will be returned daily for the time being.

The Department of Health and Human Services will remain open to the public, but entry to the department’s offices will only be through its entrance at the front east end of the courthouse.

The Manistique Senior Center is closed until further notice. For questions regarding Meals on Wheels, call CAA at 906-341-5085.
