Log truck loses load north of Rapid River

RAPID RIVER — A semi lost its load of logs on US 2 south of Rapid River after losing control on black ice and hitting the snowy median Friday morning.

Delta County Sheriff’s Office was called to the accident on US 2 south of Rapid River at around 5 a.m.

The semi was southbound when the driver hit a patch of black ice, lost control and went into the snowy median.

The semi, which was hauling logs, lost its load in one lane of the northbound lanes and median, according to deputies.

No injuries were reported.

The semi was towed out of the median by Gene’s Towing and Delta County Road Commission used a plow to push logs off the roadway.

Officers said the highway remained open.
