Court schedules trial in home invasion case

ESCANABA — A jury trial has been scheduled in Delta County Circuit Court for a Gladstone man facing charges relating to home invasion and resisting arrest.

On Sept. 23, Benjamin Thomas Adams, 27, of 819 Montana Ave., Gladstone, was arraigned in circuit court on one count of home invasion – second degree, a 15-year felony and maximum fine of $3,000; and two counts of police officer – assaulting/resisting/obstructing, a two-year felony with a maximum fine of $2,000.

The charges stem from an incident that occurred on July 5 in Gladstone. At around 11:49 p.m., Gladstone Public Safety officers were called to the residence of 517 Wisconsin Ave. when the homeowner reported a male subject was inside the residence.

Officers responded and located the man inside the home.

Adams was arrested and treated at OSF St. Francis Hospital before being brought to the Delta County Correctional Facility.

A two-day jury trial for Adams has been scheduled tentatively in both February and May 2020.
