Victim of fatal house fire identified
WELLS TOWNSHIP — The individual killed in a house fire in Wells Township Thursday night has been identified.
David J. LaMarche, 62, of Escanaba, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, Sept. 5, as a result of a house fire, according to his obituary, which is published on page 5A of today’s Daily Press.
At about 11:35 p.m. on Thursday, Delta County Central Dispatch received a 911 call reporting a fire at 6927 I.5 Lane in Wells Township.
When Delta County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived, they found the two-story residence engulfed in flames.
Escanaba Public Safety officers, with the help of Escanaba Township Volunteer Fire Department, brought the fire under control.
Once the fire was under control, a search of the residence resulted in the discovery of an individual’s remains, which was later identified as LaMarche, within the debris.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
