ESCANABA — Since it opened its doors earlier this year, things have been going well for Tom LaChance State Farm Agency.

Agent Tom LaChance said he opened his State Farm agency on Jan. 1, 2018. However, State Farm has been around for much longer than this.

“State Farm’s been protecting families since 1922, and I’m glad to be a part of such a fantastic organization,” he said.

Previously, LaChance worked at Verso’s Escanaba paper mill for 21 years. Before and during his time at Verso, he spent 22 years in the U.S. Army Reserve, which included three tours in the Middle East.

“I wanted to … work more with helping people than in manufacturing,” he said of his decision to change careers. LaChance left Verso in July 2017, and he started working with State Farm in August of that year.

So far, business has been healthy for Tom LaChance State Farm Agency.

“As a new State Farm agent and office, we’ve been able to provide coverage to a lot of new families and help them to … have a great plan in place when things don’t go so right,” LaChance said.

The agency offers a variety of services to its customers.

“We have, obviously, auto, home, life, health (insurance), and bank services,” LaChance said.

Moving forward, LaChance said he simply hopes to keep providing these services.

“My plans for the future are just to continue to serve our customers and … provide excellent service to people in our area,” he said.

He encouraged people to stop by his office if they are interested in the services he provides.
