Man gets prison in child pornography case

ESCANABA — A Gladstone man was recently sentenced to between three and 11 years in prison on 10 felony charges related to possessing child pornography in Delta County Circuit Court.

Michael Ralph Saari, 66, of 819 4th Ave. N., Gladstone, pleaded guilty to five counts of possession of child sexually-abusive material and five counts of using a computer to commit those crimes. The charges stem from crimes committed on April 18 in Delta County, according to court records. Saari was arrested on these counts after an investigation by the Michigan State Police task force on Internet Crimes Against Children from Marquette.

Saari received five sentences with a minimum of one year and a maximum of four years for possession of child sexually-abusive material, and five sentences with a minimum of two years and a maximum of seven years for using a computer to commit those crimes.
