Man rams vehicles during wild M-35 ride

CEDAR RIVER — A 22-year-old Nebraska man was arrested Wednesday after ramming vehicles and causing accidents on M-35, according to a news release from the Menominee County Sheriff’s Office.

At approximately 12:48 p.m., Menominee Central Dispatch sent all available law enforcement to M-35 after reports of a red vehicle hitting other vehicles traveling on the highway.

The Menominee County Sheriff’s Department responded and located the crash victims near Cedar River. Deputies also found the suspect vehicle crashed near the intersection of M-35 and County Road 551 in Cedarville Township.

The operator and sole occupant of that vehicle was arrested for three counts of felonious assault, operating under the influence of drugs, and cited for no valid driver’s license. Victims were transported and treated at OSF hospital in Escanaba.

The ongoing investigation indicates this series of traffic crash events started in Menominee Township, continued through Ingallston Township and ended in Cedarville Township, said the sheriff’s department.

The Menominee County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by Mid-County Rescue 114 and 114E, Cedarville Fire Department, Delta County Sheriff’s Department, Michigan State Police Gladstone Post, and the Marinette Police Department, which provided a drug recognition expert.

Sheriff Kenny Marks encourages any additional victims or witnesses to come forward and contact the Menominee County Sheriff’s Department at (906) 863-4441.
