Jail sentence given for cocaine felony charges

ESCANABA — A 22-year-old Bark River man was ordered to spend 11 months in jail during his sentencing on three cocaine felonies in Delta County Circuit Court recently.

Earlier this year, Michael Montgomery Lee Ward admitted in court to dealing cocaine in 2017 on Feb. 21, Feb. 27 and March 15, including one incident when he sold cocaine in a parking lot at Bay College.

Ward was arrested by the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team on three counts of delivery/manufacture of cocaine, each a 20-year felony. These charges were later dismissed after he pleaded guilty to three counts of possession of less than 25 grams of cocaine, each a four-year felony.

Last week, Ward was sentenced to 11 months in jail on each of the three counts to be served concurrently. He was given credit for 14 days he served in jail prior to him posting an $85,000 surety bond.

In addition, Ward’s drivers license was suspended for 30 days and restricted for 150 days.

Starting at $3.50/week.
