ESCANABA — Delta County Prosecutor Philip Strom has issued charges against a Garden woman involved in a head-on collision last December that resulted in serious injuries for another motorist.

On Dec. 19, 2017, at approximately 10:09 p.m., Delta County Law Enforcement was dispatched to a traffic crash that took place on US 2 & 41 and M35 near Michigan Avenue in Gladstone. An investigation began and revealed the crash involved a pickup truck driven by Audrey Hutchinson of Garden. The second vehicle involved was a four-door car driven by Hannah DeLaire of Gladstone. Both drivers were injured as a result of the crash.

Gladstone Public Safety has been responsible for the ongoing investigation with the assistance of the Michigan State Police and the Delta County Prosecutor’s Office.

According to a press release issued by the Delta County Prosecutor’s Office Friday, after obtaining medical records and other investigative materials, charges have been issued against Hutchinson. She faces two felony charges: operating with a high body alcohol content causing injury, a 10-year felony, and reckless driving causing serious impairment of a body function, a five-year felony.

Hutchinson was arrested on Feb. 1 by Gladstone Public Safety. Initial pretrial hearings will be held in Delta County District Court.

The victim, DeLaire, continues to receive medical treatment in Green Bay, Wis. for her injuries.
