Man pleads guilty to manufacturing meth in Rock

ESCANABA — A Gwinn man who was arrested on meth charges at a residence in Rock in March reached a plea agreement in Delta County Circuit Court this week.

William Allan Saari, 27, pleaded guilty to one count of manufacturing meth, a 20-year felony, and one count of maintaining a drug house, a two-year high-court misdemeanor. He will be sentenced in circuit court on Aug. 14.

Saari was arrested on March 28 when Michigan State Police assisted Child Protective Services investigate a child custody issue at a residence on Old M-35 in Rock and found a meth lab.

Saari remains lodged in the county jail in lieu of a $350,000 cash or surety bond.

Angela Loraine Gutzman-Guerrero, 22, and Randy Scott Norden, 40, both resided at the home and were also arrested on meth charges on March 28.

Gutzman-Guerrero has since pleaded guilty to purchasing or possessing ephedrine/pseudoephedrine to make meth and was sentenced last week to five months in jail.

Gutzman-Guerrero also pleaded guilty to child neglect in probate court in April. The court took over jurisdiction of her child and ruled in favor of a Child Protective Services plan which would allow the mother to reunite with her child.

Norden is scheduled to go to trial Sept. 5-8 when he will be prosecuted on one count of maintaining a meth lab, a 20-year felony, and one count of purchasing or possessing ephedrine/pseudoephedrine to make meth, a five-year felony.

He remains lodged in jail in lieu of a $200,000 cash or surety bond.

Starting at $3.50/week.
