The U.S. Forest Service – Hiawatha National Forest announced Thursday that the Upper Peninsula Fire and Aviation Management Unit personnel may conduct prescribed burns over the weekend on the Dutch Mill unit and on Stonington Peninsula as weather and conditions allow. If conducted, smoke may be visible around Rapid River from US-41 and US-2.
For the safety of the public and fire crews, those in the area are advised to exercise caution and extra awareness.
