ESCANABA -- Politicians from the Democratic Party joined local volunteers in efforts encouraging people vote blue this weekend.
Showing up to a rally and campaign event in Escanaba on Saturday were Candidate Callie Barr, who is looking to unseat Jack Bergman as the representative for Michigan’s First District in U.S. Congress; Rachel Keys, who is running to represent Michigan’s 108th House District in Lansing; and Former U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow, whose 50-year career as an elected official began on the Ingham County Board of Commissioners in 1974.
The event at the Carpenters Hall, found at 1219 First Ave. N. in Escanaba, involved a pizza lunch, rally, postcard-writing, and phone canvassing, followed by area door-knocking and literature drops. Barr and Keys joined the organizers and volunteers for door-knocking, said the Delta County Democratic Party (Delta Dems).
