YMCA to host “Revving Up for Spring” fundraiser

ESCANABA – The Northern Lights YMCA, along with the Island Resort & Casino and Stewart Manufacturing, will be hosting a fundraising party on Friday, Feb. 27 at the Island Resort & Casino. The event helps support the YMCA’s mission and annual campaign.

The party named “Revving Up for Spring” will feature dinner, beer and wine tasting, with wines provided by Bink’s Wine and Beverages. The doors open at 5:30 p.m. with the event starting at 6 p.m.

YMCA Membership and Marketing Director Hadele Peacock says the event will be casual but full of fun.

“The atmosphere is always festive at our parties, which is a great way to spend an evening and support a good cause,” said Peacock. “This is our 25th year we’ve held this particular event.”

Several raffles and silent auction items will round out the evening.

“Our committee has really put together a great event and we’re all looking forward to bringing our friends and family members out for an evening of fun,” Peacock added.

The YMCA party typically raises approximately $14,000 for mission support of the YMCA. This goes toward both direct financial assistance to individuals to enable their participation at the YMCA and toward support of programs that need subsidy.

Peacock said, “Due to offering a YMCA facility and programs in a very small market community, we need to supplement our programs with support from donors and special events.”
