Superior Health Foundation supports the Delta County Cancer Alliance
DELTA COUNTY – Early May of 2025, the Delta County Cancer Alliance (DCCA) was awarded $10,000 from the Superior Health Foundation to support the alliance’s travel program, “Travel for a Cancer Cure.”
The program initiated by the DCCA aims to support the challenges of Delta County Residents. Delta County’s rural areas present significant barriers to accessing quality cancer care, requiring extensive travel expenses for appointments, treatment and specialized care.
In 2024, the DCCA provided financial support for 238,368 miles of travel expenses for client cancer care.
As a non profit agency, travel expenses related to cancer care have been recognized as the greatest need as well as the greatest expense. As the alliance’s client list continues to grow, they have been guided to seek additional resources to ensure they maintain the financial ability to continue to help Delta County families, friends and neighbors diagnosed with cancer.
As a result of receiving the $10,000 grant from the Superior Foundation, DCCA was assist 21 clients with their cancer related travel expenses from May 1, 2025, to July 2026. This was calculated based on 23,000 miles x .44 cents per mile to equal $10,120, according to DCCA.
Throughout the process of providing financial support, the DCCA confirmed the magnitude of this need. In three months, DCCA had depleted the generous gift from the Superior Health Foundation.
If you are looking for an opportunity to share your financial resources, please consider a Qualified Charitable Contribution to offset Required Minimum Distributions or consider to include the DCCA in a trust upon passing.
