ESCANABA – The Bay College Foundation proudly awarded scholarships to high school competitors during the 2026 SkillsUSA Regional Competition, held at Bay College’s Escanaba campus on Friday, Feb. 6. The scholarships recognize exceptional achievement in career and technical education and support students as they pursue continued training in high-demand skilled trades.

Through the foundation’s commitment to student success, a total of six scholarships were awarded to top-performing students in the automotive, welding, and computer maintenance tech competitions. First-place finishers received a $2,500 scholarship, while second-place winners were awarded $1,000 scholarships to support their educational journey at Bay College.

“These scholarships represent more than financial support–they are an investment in the future workforce of our region,” shared Vicki DeGrand, executive director of Foundation and Alumni Relations at Bay College. “We are proud to recognize these talented students and help remove barriers as they continue their education and training in critical technical fields.”

The SkillsUSA Regional Competition brings together some of the Upper Peninsula’s most driven career and technical students, providing an opportunity to demonstrate their skills while connecting with educators and industry professionals. By funding these scholarships, the Bay College Foundation reinforces its mission to expand educational access and strengthen the talent pipeline for local employers.

Students were recognized during the event and celebrated alongside advisors, faculty and community supporters who play an important role in preparing the next generation of skilled professionals.
