Miron, Salo earn scholarships from Delta County Junior Golf
- Deegan Miron
- Emmi Salo
ESCANABA – The Delta County Junior Golf Association has announced its scholarship winners: Deegan Miron and Emmi Salo.
Both received $1,000 to further their education — Miron at Bay College and Salo at Grand Valley State. Both played in the junior golf program for all four years, were active in community service and excelled in academics.
DCJGA donates each year through entry fees in conjunction with all the local courses donations of their courses — Terrace Bluff, Gladstone Golf Club, Escanaba Golf Club and Highland Golf Club — as part of the associations summer instruction and tournament series.
Instructors Dave Douglas and Gary Greis gave their time and talents to help teach local youth the fundamentals of the game and beyond. Amy Johnson volunteers her assets and expertise to keep the program organized and running smoothly behind the scenes. A true collaboration of the many volunteers at each club along with the instructors and organizers make for a great summer for the kids to learn the game of golf, organizers said.
