As the Delta County Cancer Alliance wraps up Pink Fest/Bra’s for a Cause and National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we are thankful for so many who helped to make our fundraising events an amazing success.
This year we had 24 beautifully decorated bras displayed at Chenier’s Reef, Rapid River Pub, Cat Man Do’s and Highland Golf Course. Each of the venues were so generous as hosts and supporters of the DCCA.
As the voting for favorite bras progressed throughout the month the top votes went to: Chenier’s Reef, Determined Dames won with 217 votes. Week two, Rapid River Pub, and Week Three, Cat Man Do’s, both recognized Honor Flight as the bra of choice with 72 and 125 votes respectively.
The culminating voting night and auction brought the Determined Dames back to the top vote with a total of 686; with second place going to Honor Flight with 514 votes. Congratulations to both winners.
The evening started with amazing entertainment by Failte, the Celtic band that
donated their time and talents to the event followed by the auction. It was a fun competition and a great way to support cancer patients in Delta County.
The final event with auctioneer with Col. Dan Samson, who generously donated his time and talents, encouraged more than $1,000 in donations from those generously bidding on the artfully decorated bras. Top-selling bra in the auction was the Packer Bra, which sold for $200. Beautifully made by Simmi Mosiser, a former resident of Escanaba. Second-highest was for the Honor Flight Bra for $100.
Thank you to all those who supported our cause through the purchase of the bras.
The total amount raised for this event throughout all of the venues was $7,215.00. Wow. Thank you, Delta County, for supporting the efforts of the Delta County Cancer Alliance.
